Persistence – “Energy and persistence conquer all things” according to Benjamin Franklin. If you were in attendance this past Wednesday meeting I think it’s safe to say our guest speaker Mike Bowling would agree.
I had the opportunity to speak with Mike after he addressed our well attended meeting about the one thing that has made him successful over his lifetime, and he said one-word: persistence. It got me thinking of the many successful people in the world and whenever they are interviewed it’s always the same thing: persistence. They never give up, from Elon Musk to Michael Jordan to Thomas Edison who some say tried over 1600 different materials before discovering suitable filament for his light bulb, yet he never gave up. Just Imagine if he did.
While our club might not have the likes of an Elon Musk or a Thomas Edison, we do have people who understand what persistence is and what it takes to be successful in business and in life. We all know who they are the members who goes and puts the extra effort into everything they do.
As President of SBMC this year I too am persistent, along with my officers, Chair and Co-Chairpeople and our board of directors. We will not stop we have a plan to grow our club and build on its rich history. I ask each and every member to please consider inviting a fellow business owner to one of our meetings or social events. I think if you are persistent in bringing new members to our club it will not only benefit them but all of Jacksonville for the good work we do.
