Tradition
“It takes an endless amount of history to make even a little tradition.” – Henry James
With 93 years of service to the betterment of the Southside of Jacksonville, you are bound to make some history and tradition. This past Monday, we had the opportunity to continue a tradition celebrating the 29th year of the Krump Kirby YAP golf tournament. The impact this event has had on so many college-bound students over the past 29 years is immeasurable. I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Past President Jepp Walter and the entire golf committee, as well as our wonderful sponsors, volunteers, and, of course, our participants. A special thank you to Chris Knowles of Blade and Wave Food Truck, who not only prepared a wonderful dinner for all in attendance but also donated all proceeds. The energy was a surge of lightning on and off the course, as you can feel the energy from everyone doing good deeds throughout the day.
On Friday I think it’s safe to say we started what I hope will become a long-standing tradition for our SBMC family. Coffee is for Closers was a big hit, as many of our members met to network and exchange ideas all while enjoying great coffee and community. This event was so successful that we will be making it a monthly event. Thank you to First VP Mark Geil and Robert Petsch for organizing this great new event.
Summer usually means smaller attendance at our meetings due to members taking vacations, but it would be hard to tell that anyone was on holiday. Thank you for coming out to our meetings. It’s still the best place to meet up with friends and exchange ideas.
Have a great summer and celebrate all your family traditions while making some new ones.
Ken Petsch
