For some of us in the club, we remember this famous quote and the movie as if it was yesterday. It’s hard to believe Ferris Bueller’s Day Off came out in 1986. 39 years ago. I was just 22 years old with my whole life ahead of me. While it was a great movie, I don’t think I realized just how profound that movie quote really was and how right he was. The one thing I have learned in those 39 years is that the older you get, the faster time seems to go.

When I was 29 years old, I started my first company, and I owned and operated it for 10 years, and it felt like 30years. At 39 years old, I sold the company and received ownership in a business where I stayed for another 10 years, and that was like 20 years. At 49, I started Apollo Packaging, and I just celebrated our 12th year in business, and it feels like it was an hour and 15 minutes.

This part of the newsletter is for you, young men and women who still get out of bed and nothing hurts in the morning, to enjoy it. The new baby you bought home, enjoy him or her as they will grow so quickly, you will wonder how the child who you gave a bottle and rocked to sleep is now asking for the car keys.  Don’t worry about money and bills, and what other people have; it really doesn’t matter, we are all running our own race.

Save at least 10% of your salary for retirement; it will be here sooner than you think. Take the vacation while you are young; it doesn’t matter where you go, just go.

This world has so much to explore and enjoy, it can be the mountains, a museum, or a ballpark, and yell Hey batter, batter swing batter! the important thing is the memories that you make with your family and friends, because before you know it, you will wake up one morning asking yourself why your back is so damn sore.

Have a great week!
