Issue 326, March 29, 2026
April Fools’ Day, something we celebrate every year that is all about playful mischief, practical jokes, hoaxes & lighthearted tricks designed to catch people off guard & to spark laughter. We celebrate it as a centuries old tradition, possibly rooted in the calendar changes in 16th century France or ancient spring festivals of renewal. This tradition gives people a socially accepted outlet for harmless fun & mild deception, allowing us to temporarily reverse everyday seriousness & share a bit of human mischief without real consequences. In truth, we are rarely fooling anyone for long?… Most of these pranks are quickly revealed with a cheerful “April Fool!” with the real joy coming from the shared surprise & bonding rather than genuine humiliation.
To avoid being a fool yourself, I suggest you stay skeptical on this day, double check surprising news or requests, trust your instincts when something seems too good to be true or outrageous & remember that the best defense is a good sense of humor & the willingness to laugh at yourself. Ultimately, there is little harm in a small, well-intentioned pranks when kept light & playful. These fleeting moments of silliness simply add a touch of joy & remind us not to take life too seriously all the time.
Who is on your list of pranks this year?
