Cost vs Value

Price is what you pay, Value is what you get!

Warren Buffet

Dear Members,

In business and in life, we make decisions every day that involve both cost and value. We know that cost is the price we pay—in dollars, time, or resources. But value is the lasting benefit—the return on our investment—the impact that goes far beyond the receipt.

Think about a handshake deal that turned into a lifelong partnership, a quality product that outlasted cheaper alternatives, or a connection made at this very club that opened the door to new opportunities. Those are moments when value outweighs cost.

At the Southside Business Men’s Club, your annual dues are a cost. The friendships you form, the business connections you make, the speakers who challenge your thinking, and the pride of being part of a 93-year-old tradition—that’s value.

In the months ahead, as we work on projects and events, I encourage you to ask yourself: Am I focused on the cost or the value? Often, the best investments don’t appear on a balance sheet—they show up in stronger relationships, new opportunities, and a more vibrant community.

Here’s to value!
