A Father’s Day Reflection

As we celebrate Father’s Day, we are reminded that one of the greatest gifts a father can give is the example he sets for future generations.

Throughout SBMC’s history, leadership, service, and civic responsibility have often been passed from one generation to the next. Perhaps no example better illustrates this than the story of Angelo Volpe and his son, Jeff Volpe.

In 2008, Angelo Volpe became the first Canadian citizen to serve as President of the Southside Business Men’s Club. His dedication to the Club and community left a lasting impact on SBMC.

Fourteen years later, in 2022, Jeff Volpe followed in his father’s footsteps and became the Club’s first-ever “Legacy President.” A United States Marine Corps veteran and longtime supporter of SBMC, Jeff’s presidency represented more than a leadership transition—it symbolized the passing of values from one generation to another.

Their story reminds us that the strength of our organization has always been built upon mentorship, example, and a commitment to serving others. Much like fathers who guide their children, the leaders of SBMC have spent nearly a century helping shape future generations of civic and business leaders.

This Father’s Day, we thank all of the fathers, grandfathers, mentors, and role models who have invested their time, wisdom, and leadership into their families, our community, and our Club.

Happy Father’s Day from the Southside Business Men’s Club.
