The President

Steve DeSorbo

I became a member of The Southside Business Men’s Club (SBMC) in 2009. In 2010, I was asked to be the Sergeant at Arms and an officer of this fine organization. Since 1932, SBMC has had many great male and female presidents and I am honored that I was trusted to be that person for 2018.

SBMC is constantly striving to make the southside of Jacksonville a better place to do business. Over time it has also become one of Jacksonville’s premier civic and charitable organizations. Currently, SBMC is contributing time and money to build Touchton Park at the corner of Touchton Rd and Belfort Rd. In the past, SBMC has been instrumental in the building of Friendship Fountain and the University Blvd. overpass at Philips Hwy — just to mention two of many projects in which we’ve been involved.

Our charities gives tens of thousands of scholarship dollars annually. These scholarships go to deserving students attending public schools on the southside of Jacksonville. We also give thousands of dollars per year to help the Safety Patrol of a local elementary school fund their annual trip to Washington DC.

If you are not a member (yet!), come visit and you’ll quickly see why we are a fun loving club that does tremendous work for our community.
