The President

Greetings SBMC Supporters,

We’re thrilled to highlight the extensive charitable initiatives spearheaded by the Southside Business Men’s Club (SBMC), showcasing our dedication to enhancing our community and supporting local youth through various impactful events. Our key fundraising events include the Annual Crump Kirby Memorial Youth Achievers Charity Golf Classic, the JROTC Annual Clay Shoot, and the heartfelt Annual Christmas Kids Shopping Spree.

The Golf Classic, set for May 20th, 2024, at The Golf Club at South Hampton, is entering its 29th year. It crucially supports the Youth Achiever Program Scholarship Fund, fostering educational opportunities for deserving students. Since 1994, our efforts have ensured School Safety Patrol members from eligible schools can enjoy an enriching trip to Washington, D.C., and we have provided substantial college scholarships based on academic merit. The JROTC Scholarship, introduced in 2014, and the Pauline Smith Scholarship Award are key components of our scholarship efforts, contributing to over $500,000 awarded to local students.

The JROTC Annual Clay Shoot, scheduled for September 20th, 2024, is another vital fundraiser, specifically aiding JROTC scholarships and related needs, bringing in approximately $14,000 annually to support leadership and excellence among cadets.

A cherished highlight of our annual events is the Christmas Kids Shopping Spree, planned for December 7th, 2024. Embodying the spirit of holiday giving, this event allows us to provide $150 to each underprivileged child for a shopping spree at a local Target store. Last year, we were able to sponsor over 50 children, and this year, we aim to double our impact by reaching 100 children. This event truly captures the essence of community support and festive generosity.
